Defining Production Work Centers

Work Center is the area where a given job on the production line is done by machines/workers.

Route: ERP > Production > Work Centers

It refers to the special production units on the workshop/factory floor where the production processes take place. Hierarchical definitions of upper and lower work centers can be made in Workcube Work Centers. For this reason, work centers connected to this work center can be defined by delicately defining the work center.

When adding a Work Center in Workcube, it is necessary to define which branch office, department, and warehouse that work center is connected to.

In order to use a work center actively in production, the following basic definitions must be made;
  • Work Center Name
  • Main Work Center: This can be selected if the work center is connected to a work center or the main work center. First, the main work center or work center must be defined.
  • Branch Office and Department: The purpose of branch office and department selection is to follow the production orders of each branch office and the persons authorized in the branch office at the connected work centers in its own branch office.
  • Average Year Capacity: The annual operating capacity of the work center in days and hours.
  • Work Center Cost Per Hour: The work center's average overhead cost per hour.
  • Setup Time: In cases where setup is required before the work center goes into active production, this setup time must be entered. Planning and calculations are made by including this time in the total production time.
  • Finite Capacity: Checking the Finite Capacity checkbox ensures that if an open work order is planned on the specified date for the relevant work center, it is not rescheduled. It prevents the opening of work orders at the same work center and on the same dates.

Work Center Warehouse Definitions;

  • Consumables Warehouse: Consumables warehouse is the warehouse where the spent raw materials will be withdrawn when we finalize a production order. It is not mandatory to select the consumable warehouse when defining the work center. But choosing gives you the following advantage. If there is a warehouse definition in the work center detail, the system will display the warehouse area full when entering the production result. If it is not in the work center details, you need to know and choose from which warehouse you will consume from each time.
  • Production Warehouse: It is the warehouse where the product we produce will go when the production warehouse is formed as a result of production. The warehouse where you want the product to enter the inventory should be selected as the production warehouse.
  • Shipping Warehouse: If we do not want the product we produce to go directly to the production warehouse, if we want it to enter our warehouse or inventory as a result of quality approval and a corresponding approval, then we can choose our shipping warehouse and send the product to the production warehouse after quality approval. When the shipping warehouse is selected, the system takes the manufactured product from the production warehouse and creates a delivery note to the shipping warehouse without "Receive" checked.

Note: For the products to be quality controlled, the shipping warehouse must be selected.

After the work center is opened, you can enter the details of the added work center and add sub work center from the "Sub work centers" section.

What Should Be Considered When Adding a Work Center?

1-Make sure that the "Producing" checkbox is checked in the definition of the Branch office to which the work center will be connected.

2-Make sure that the "Producing" checkbox is checked in the corresponding Department definition.

3-Open locations under the warehouse to be defined.

Tip: If you cannot see the warehouse locations you have defined in the Shipping, Production, and Consumable Warehouses fields, enter your employee card and click on the position and authorize the department you have opened for yourself in the Other > Settings > Branch Office Authorities field.

Work Center Production Capacity Definitions

Different products can be produced in one work center. Work center capacity definitions related to these products and the physical assets used in that work center in the production of that product can also be selected separately.

When you select the product produced at the work center in the upper area and write how many units of that product are processed per hour at that work center, the system automatically calculates the production capacity in 1 minute. When you click on the plus sign after selecting the physical assets and other information related to the product, the product information is automatically added to the bottom.

When you make any changes in the lines added below, it is sufficient to click on the square icon on the far right of the relevant product line to save the changes.

Physical Asset Relationship with Production Work Centers

Physical assets used in production can be recorded and managed in the physical assets module in Workcube.

The concepts of physical assets and work centers can sometimes be confused with each other. For example, the CNC Machine is both a physical asset and a work center in production. For this reason, it is highly likely that we have work centers and physical assets with the same names.

  • In order for this machine/equipment to participate in production processes, it must be defined as a work center, but to be managed as a physical asset, it must be registered separately in the physical assets module.
  • It is also possible for more than one physical asset to be located in a work center.
  • Making maintenance plans of the machine, managing different elements such as debit, leasing, etc. are provided from the physical assets module.
  • In order to establish the relationship between the Work center and the Physical asset, the relevant physical asset(s) can be selected on the work center.
  • In order to make this selection, the machines or equipment must first be registered in the Physical Assets module.
  • Physical assets used in the work center can be selected by clicking the Magnifier icon in the "Related Physical Assets" section on the work center screen.

Definition of Production Operations

Operations are the process definitions that are performed at work centers and ensure that the product is ready.

While defining the operation, you can save the operation code, unit transaction cost, how many minutes it takes for 1 operation, and explanations about the operation. In addition, you can add information about how the operation is performed and the relevant document, such as a user manual, to your operation definition.

After defining the operation, the work centers associated with this operation and the capacities of these work centers for this operation are defined.

For Example; Drilling is an operation. Drilling, “Multi Drill” is a process done on the Work Center and it seems like 1000 pierces per hour can be done on the Multi Drill Work Center.
