What is an Application Server?

We can compare the application server to a very skilled waiter who takes the order from the counter, forwards it to the back section where basic food items are stored, and brings ready-to-eat food to the customer at the counter. Or we can compare the application server with an administrator who has excellent communication and the ability to delegate tasks.

Application servers usually make raw data of a company, say a stock or financial data, usable and understandable in real life, and broadcast it on a computer screen or web browser. Like a good manager who distributes projects and work correctly and appropriately among his staff, the application server ensures that the computer with the least load is used within the company and ensures the correct distribution of the workload in the computing network.

Is the application server software or hardware?

Even though it is actually software, there is still confusion about what the product category of application servers is. Because this technology and terminology are still very new for many people. Some application server vendors are focusing on tools that allow code to be written or reused to teach old applications new tricks and give them a new look. Others specialize in functions such as adjusting the load balance, which manages the connections between data and supports the speed and agility of the system.

How does the application server support the e-business environment?

Let's say you found a drink on a site that your father loved very much. You entered your delivery and billing information and pressed the button. This button you press sends a special message from your computer to the stock and accounting system of the vendor with the help of an application server. This message asks if the drink you want is in stock and if your credit card information is correct. At this point, one of the many things the application server does is to manage the relationships between the data.

(Relations between the information in the stock system and the information you send through the application server) Here, the price list and stock codes are effectively evaluated and converted into a message that appears on your computer. After all these processes, the message on your computer screen may be: "Thanks. The jackets you want are currently in stock and 12 jackets you want will be delivered to the address you specified. The total amount you will pay for this is 650 Dollars"
