Related Tasks

If related tasks are added during task registration, it is stated that these tasks will be correlated.

Route: PMS > Project Management > Tasks

By clicking the "+" button on the Tasks page, the task registration screen is accessed.

Tasks are divided into "parent task" and "sub task". A parent task can have more than one associated sub task.

If a sub task related to the parent task is being created, a selection must be made on the "Related Tasks" under the "Additional Info" tab on the registration screen.

Related Tasks are grouped under 4 main headings.

Selections made on the start and finish times of the sub task in this selection screen affect the start and finish times of the parent task.

Choices to be Made According to the Relationship Type

1)  In the "Finish to Start" selection, the difference between the start and finish time of the parent task is added to the finish date of the parent task. The child task's finish date becomes the parent task's new start date.

F.S: Let the start date of the created parent task be 5.01.2021 and the finish date is 10.01.2021. Let the start date of our sub task be 7.01.2021 and the finish date be 9.01.2021.

When the relation type of the child task is selected as "Finish to Start" and saved, the start date of the parent task is updated as 9.01.2021. The finish date of the parent task increases by the difference between the start and finish date to 15.01.2021.

2) In the "Start to Finish" selection, the finish date of the parent task is updated as the start date of the sub task. The start date of the parent task is updated from the start date of the sub task, minus the difference between the finish date and the start date of the parent task.

S.F: Let the start date of the created parent task be 20.01.2021 and the finish date is 30.01.2021. Let the start date of our sub task be 25.01.2021 and the finish date be 26.01.2021.

When the relation type of the sub task is selected as "Start to Finish" and saved, the start date of the parent task (30-20=10) becomes 15.01.2021 and the finish date is 25.01.2021.

3) In the "Start to Start" selection, the start date of the parent task is updated as the start date of our sub task. The finish date of the parent task is updated to the start date of the sub task by adding the difference between the finish date and the start date of the parent task.

S.S: Let the start date of our created parent task be 10.01.2021 and the finish date is 20.01.2021. Let the start date of our sub task be 15.01.2021 and finish date is 17.01.2021.

When the relation type of the sub task is selected as "Start to Start" and saved, the start date of the parent task will be 15.01.2021 and the finish date will be 25.01.2021.

4) In the "Finish to Finish" selection, the start date of the parent task is updated by subtracting the difference between the finish and start date of the parent task from the finish date of the sub task. The finish date of the parent task is updated to the finish date of the sub task.

F.F:  Let the start date of the created parent task be 15.01.2021 and the finish date is 30.01.2021. Let the start date of our sub task be 20.01.2021 and the finish date is 22.01.2021.

When the relation type of the sub task is selected as "Finish to Finish" and saved, the start date of the parent task will be 7.01.2021 and the finish date will be 22.01.2021.
