Spec Management with Alternative Product Questions

Workcube allows its users to produce more than one variation in their BOM without opening a new product or inventory card. With Workcube's spec approach, an unlimited number of BOMs can be easily created for each product. With Spec, there is no need to repeatedly create a BOM from scratch for each different variant of products.

In particular, organizations that manufacture to order can create different BOMs, and specifications, without changing the standard bill of materials for each order by using the spec. In this way, instead of keeping a separate BOM and inventory code for each different version of the product, the spec of the product is created in a shorter time and in a simpler way. In this way, the main and intermediate additives in production can be followed easily.

How Does Spec Formation Occur from Alternative Questions?

1. If you want to create a configuration for a product, the "Customizable" option must be ticked in the product detail.

2. Alternative product questions are added from the Alternative Product Questions page.

Route: ERP > Production > Production Design > Alternative Product Questions

Question: The question title that will appear to the user is defined on the spec detail page.

Alternative Transaction: Which feature is desired to be changed in the product of the selected alternative question (Inventory Change, Measurement Change, Feature Change) is selected.

Explanation: Description information represents the question to be used in the spec name.

3. The question to be defined is selected from the alternative question options in the BOM.

4. The "Alternative Product" icon will appear on the lines where the question is defined. With the help of this icon, alternative products are defined from the page that opens.

Line: In the spec detail page, the sequence number is defined in which order the answers are requested in the select box. If it is not defined, the answers are listed in the select box in the order on the definition page.

Inventory Code: Alternatively, it is the inventory code of the selected product.

Product Description: The name of the alternatively selected product.

Spec: Choose spec.

Utilization Rate: It refers to the percentage rate that the main product is in.

Supplier: Indicates from which supplier the alternative product was purchased.

P: Stands for phantom. Use for phantom BOMs.

5. Editing is done by selecting Yes/No answers to the question "Show Spec Price in Basket" from the XML settings on the Spec Details page.

Route: BOM Detail > Spec > Spec Detail

Once Alternate Questions and Alternate Products are defined in a BOM, specs become manageable without the need to create multiple BOMs.

Sales and Production of Created Specs

When creating a Sales Order for a customer, the product with spec definitions is added to the basket line. Click on the cell that says Spec in the basket line containing the relevant product. Alternative questions defined previously on the Configuration/Spec page that opens are selected and saved in line with the customer's order. If it is necessary to make a production in line with the sales order, the Order Stage is selected as “Production” and the update is made.

Thus, the sales order is sent on the Production Orders page. A Factory Production Order is given for the product when the relevant order is selected on this page and the "Send to Production" button is clicked.
